Greetings! My name is Kara Mae- some of you may know of me from my various ventures into writing, modeling, show producing, zine publishing and burlesque fanaticism. I'm writing to tell you about my latest project, which has been in the brainstorming phases for quite some time now. Over the past few years, I've met so many people who share my common set of interests: retro glamour, glitter, fashion, burlesque, pin-up and glamour photography - I finally decided it was time to gather all of these themes by their common thread and produce "Star & Garter" magazine.

Named for a 1930's burlesque revue, "Star & Garter" is going to regularly feature interviews, reviews, commentary and photographs on the subculture of glamour and kitsch. I've gathered a great team of fanatics to help write, research, photograph and promote. Every issue will feature interviews with burlesque stars past and present, photographers, artists, musicians, webmasters, and anyone contributing to the kitschy-cool underground. We scour the big cities and the internet for cool fashion, decor, books, music and entertainment.

Regular features will include:

  • Website reviews and interviews on informative, entertaining, and arousing sites.
  • Fan stories from men and women whose lives were changed by devotion to their favorite female icon.
  • Budget conscious crafts for home decor, recipes and cocktails.
  • The "Cute and Sassy Bartender Award", dedicated to the lovely ladies who serve us our liquor.
  • Nightlife listing: City by city listings of places to go for food, drinks and entertainment!

    So... why do you care?
Well, perhaps you'd be interested in advertising in the only publication dedicated to this subject? Perhaps you'd be interested in carrying Star & Garter in your store? Perhaps you'd be interested in having your clothes/cosmetics/cool stuff featured in the magazine? Perhaps you don't want to be left out of the nightlife listing, a definitive guide for travelers and city dwellers? Perhaps you don't care at all... but really... not at ALL? Come on!

Hopefully, this is only the beginning, and future issues can see glossy printing and more reader participation. And not just you girls out there! We think there's a special place under the discerning males' mattress for their very own copy of Star & Garter. Two words: "Girls. Lingerie."

Isn't it all just so divoon?
